• In the 2002 Association for Democratic Reforms case, provision was made for the candidates to describe their criminal background.

• In the Ramesh Dalal case of 2005, the Supreme Court banned a person who has been sentenced for more than 2 years from contesting elections

• Section 8(4) of the RP Act 1951 was declared unconstitutional in the Lily Thomas case of 2013

• In 2018, the Supreme Court directed the general public to be made aware through the media about the criminal cases of the candidates.

• In 2013, the courts were directed to complete the trial within one year.

•  2005 के रमेश दलाल  वाद में सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने 2 साल से अधिक सजा प्राप्त करने वाले व्यक्ति के चुनाव लड़ने पर प्रतिबंध लगाया

•  2013 की लिली थॉमस  वाद में आरपी एक्ट 1951 की धारा 8(4) को असंवैधानिक घोषित किया

•  2018 में सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने उम्मीदवारों के अपराधिक मामले के बारे में आम जनता को मीडिया के माध्यम से जागरूक करने का निर्देश दिया

•  2013 मे न्यायालयों को 1 साल के अंदर ट्रायल पूर्ण करने का निर्देश दिया

•  2017 में स्पेशल कोर्ट के निर्माण का निर्देश दिया।
